  2. Describe how to utilize earned media to maximize the impact of their events.
  3. Recognize materials and assets that can be used for creative message delivery.

  • Audience: Any tobacco control professional who is looking for creative and effective youth advocacy options.
  • Key Points: Across the U.S. tobacco control budgets are tight.  In this session we will look at 25 youth events and actions that were successfully implemented for under $100. There will be a focus on earned media and communication with stakeholders.  The presenters will discuss the planning, implementation and follow up of 10 events and provide an overview of 15 additional events.  These events include large youth actions, local mail campaigns, elected official education, stakeholder engagement, public education and awareness, letters to the editor and social marketing.
  • Educational Experience: This session is presented as a lecture with a brainstorming element so the participants can apply the information to their local communities. Participants will also receive a booklet with details of all 25 of youth actions and activities.
