Key Points: The presentation will take participants through the planning process Wisconsin used to determine its OTP policy goals, including partner recruitment and conducting an inventory and analysis of potential policy options.  The session will include information on various OTP policies, and detail why Wisconsin selected its primary focus area.  An overview of Wisconsin’s current OTP efforts will also be detailed.

Educational Experience: Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Control Program staff and state and local partners will provide strategies for collaborating with multiple partners to determine a policy focus.  This process includes analyzing factors such as public support, message reception, political feasibility, and available resources.  Attendees will also gain a better understanding of the OTP policy landscape and how to engage all levels of their tobacco prevention and control movement on the issue, including youth.

Benefits: Transitioning from a successful policy takes time and effort.   This presentation will provide helpful tips to states ready to take on a new policy initiative, including selecting a policy focus and crafting an effective action plan.
