At the conclusion of this presentation attendees will be able to:
- List the major themes of the Tobacco Control Act and describe the role of the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) in tobacco control
- Describe CTP's successes to date and be able dialog between state and local tobacco control professionals and FDA
- Explain limitations in the tobacco control movement
Key Points: This session will provide an overview of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (TCA); the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Tobacco Products (CTP); FDA’s public health regulatory framework for tobacco and role in tobacco prevention and control efforts; and important ways for partners to work with FDA.
Educational Experience: Speakers will provide information and updates on CTP’s research priorities to support the TCA; tobacco science for regulatory decision making; current research efforts; compliance and enforcement activities; and public education, authorities and communications.
