Key Points: Smokefree policy campaigns require intense and aggressive education and advocacy activities. This session will help advocates understand the role of public health in public policy campaigns, manage external perceptions of lobbying vs. education, and identify where to go for help.

Educational Experience:

Basic advocacy or public policy experience.

Benefits: Participants will be able to 1) articulate the role of public health collaborators in smokefree policy campaigns, 2) differentiate between advocacy and lobbying activities, 3) identify opposition tactics, and 4) identify resources for technical assistance.
