Audience: Tobacco control program coalitions, program coordinators, program directors 

Key Points: Building towards a tobacco display restriction law in the Village of Haverstraw will be discussed. Participants will hear why the community was selected as a focal point for this initiative. Strategies such as selecting community champions, community education and community mobilization will be discussed. We will discuss and share media strategies utilized as well as other promotional items used to educate the community. Strategies used to educate policy makers including how to build an effective public hearing meeting presentation we will be discussed.  We will also share relevant post law passage feedback and press garnered as a result of the law passing.

Educational Experience: Research supporting tobacco display restrictions that was used to educate policy makers will be shared as will other relevant reports including the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act of 2009. 

Benefits: Will assist programs interested in working on tobacco display restrictions to build a strategy involving community, research, media and collaboration with tobacco policy centers.
