Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify sub populations important to their state
  2. List ways in which to disaggregate data for their sub population of interest
  3. Identify information needs for specific sub populations

Cross Cutting Program Area(s): Increasing Diversity/Eliminating Disparities

Audience: All participants

Key Points: It is important to identify subpopulations and learn how to gather and disaggregate data on and among them.

Educational Experience: Attendees will be able to identify the subpopulations in their state, list ways to disaggregate date for their sub population of interest, and identify needs for specific sub populations

Benefits:

In this session, presenters will discuss the need to disaggregate data for addressing sub-population needs.  Ways in which to disaggregate data in extant databases will be demonstrated.  Examples and current issues for two such sub-populations (LGBT and African-Americans) will be discussed in more detail.
