Key Points: The teen smoking rate is constantly rising in Monroe County in a partnership between the local hospital, schools and community agencies provided materials and cessation services to teens.  To understand the impact  of a 10-week voluntary Tobacco Awareness Program (TAP) that we can offer teen tobacco users and their perpective of participating. 

Educational Experience: Session attendees will be provided with information and new ideas for implamenting teen smoking programs.  As well as an understanding of youth engagement in cessation.

Benefits: As reported by the CDC tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death in the US. 80% people who use tobacco begin before age 18, more than 3,000 young persons begin smoking each day(CDC, 2011;Lamkin et al, 1998). Attendees of this session will benefit professionals working with youth in tobacco prevention and cessation
